permanant-residence-in-australia

Australian migrants are permanent residents of Australia who have been granted migrant or permanent resident visas and can live and work in the country. Migrants are not citizens, but they do have the option of becoming citizens once they have met the residency requirements. Immigrating to Australia can be accomplished in various ways, including through family, employment, refugee, or humanitarian status.

To migrate to Australia and live there, you must apply for one of the Australia PR visas (Permanent Resident). This visa can be applied for from anywhere in the world. According to a study, 70% of foreign nationals who come to Australia for various reasons want to stay, work, and live here.

DMS Migration Services is a MARA Registered Migration Agent who can help you apply for Australian Permanent Residence from anywhere in the world. The procedure is carried out entirely online.

The merit-based immigration processes to Australia are primarily point-based and based on occupational or business skills, experience, and English proficiency.

What is Permanent Residency in Australia?

The Permanent Residency Visa (PR) is a visa granted by Australia’s immigration authority to foreign nationals who meet certain criteria. An Australian PR (permanent resident) is a non-citizen who can work, live, and study in Australia without restrictions, just like an Australian citizen.

In terms of international travel and voting, Australian citizenship and permanent residency differ from each other.

Eligibility Criteria for Permanent Residency in Australia

Australia’s immigration system is based on a points system. The point-based system must be followed by anyone interested in applying for an Australian Permanent Residency Visa. Some of the categories are covered by the point system, but not all.

Under skilled Migration, subclasses 189, 190, and 491 are point tested, with a minimum requirement of 65. Only two streams in subclass 188 in business migration are point-tested, with a minimum score requirement of 65.

Points are calculated differently for each visa and subclass. The more points you have, the more likely you are to be granted a permanent visa.

Test of Points (only for subclass 189, 190, and 491)

When it comes to granting you an Australia Permanent Residency Visa, the Australian Immigration Authorities have a clear and concise method of weighing your credentials. The following are the factors that determine how many points you get:

Age: To be eligible for Australian PR, you must be under 45 years old.

Skills: Your skills are the most important criterion for obtaining a PR visa.

Every year, Australia’s Immigration and Border Protection Department publishes an updated list of skill sets in high demand in Australia or any of its regions.

Suppose the skills you’ve nominated are on a regional or Australian highly rated skills list. In that case, you’ll be more likely to be invited to apply for a visa and have your application approved for permanent residency in Australia.

Knowledge of the English language: Competent English is the minimum requirement for making a valid application for an Australia PR visa, which is as follows:

IELTS: For listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, a minimum of 6 points are required.

TOEFL iBT: The minimum requirements for listening skills are 12, Reading skills are 13, Writing skills are 21, Speaking skills are 18.

PTE Academic: A score of 50 is required for listening, speaking, writing, and reading.

CAE: A minimum of 169 points is required for speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills.

Academic credentials: The points test considers your academic qualifications (whether they are accredited in Australia or abroad).

Your profession would not earn you points, but it would undoubtedly give your application an advantage over others. It’s because you’ll be given points based on how many years of “recognized experience” you have in that field. Most importantly, you must choose an occupation from one of the lists (MLTSSL, STSOL, or ROL), which does not guarantee you will receive points.

The points test determines what benefits you bring to Australia as an Australia PR holder if you work and live here.
